COVERKILL.

So...if you're reading this I guess you have an interest in knowing where "it" came from. Well long ago & far away  in a galaxy far beyond the reaches of... bullshit! It came from inside. Inside the twisted little minds that created & carried this thing we call Overkill. And these past 15 yrs. have had quite a few twisted minds within its confines.
When the band started, way back when we were strictly & solely a cover band. Belting out the "noise" that could not be found on that happy, disco dancing radio dial. We were attracted to the aggressive darken side of music. The music that "they" said would never last (who the fuck are "they" anyway). We were actually playing some of the songs found on this record, in the traditionaly offensive style that has come to be known as Overkill.
Priest, MotЖrhead, Sabbath & KISS to name a metal few, along with the snot-nozed punk of the day, like the Dead Boys, Pistols and Ramones. I've always felt is the bastard child of both. So let's face it, a band has to have influences, and to know yourself is to know where you came from, and to deny your influences would be to deny yourself.
Hey man, in short we were & are fans!!! So let's get to the tunes, I'm running out of witty things to write...
...onward & upward!!!
Blitz

OVERKILL
MOTнRHEAD (Kilmister/Clarke/Taylor)

I think this one is self explanatory. When looking for a monikir we wanted something
that was descriptive to our perception of presentation. We were standing on the street
after rehearsel, drinking beer and listening to MotЖrhead...
"only way to feel the noise is when it's good and loud"!!! ...the birth.
I once read quote that said, there are really only two bands. MotЖrhead & The Ramones!
Not too far off.

Only way to feel the noise is when it's good and loud,
So good I can't believe it's screaming with the crowd,
Don't sweat it, get it back to you,
Overkill, Overkill, Overkill
Shut up

On your feet you feel the beat, straight to your spine,
Shake your head you must be dead if it don't make you blind,
Don't sweat it, get it back to you,
Overkill, Overkill Overkill
Shut up

Know your body's made to move, you feel it in your guts
Rock 'n' roll ain't worth the name if it don't make you strut,
Don't sweat it, get it back to you,
Overkill, Overkill, Overkill

NO FEELINGS
THE SEX PISTOLS (Jones/Cook/Matlock/Rotten)

This wasn't music, it was bigger; it was revolution!
Lennon, McCartney/Rotten, Vicious

Seen you in the mirror when the story began
and I fell in love with you I love yer mortal sin
Your brains are locked away but I love your company
I only ever leave you when you got no money
I got no emotions for anybody else
You better understand I'm in love with myself
Myself my beautiful self

No feelings no feelings
No feelings for anybody else

Hello and goodbye and a runaround Sue
You follow me around like a pretty pot of glue
I kick you in the head you got nothing to say
Get out of the way cos I gotta getaway
You never realise I take the piss out of you
You come up and see me and I'll beat you black and blue
Okay I'll send you away

No feelings no feelings
No feelings for anybody else except for myself
My beautiful self dear

Ain't no moonlight after midnight
I see you stupid people out looking for delight
well I'm so happy I'm feeling so fine
I'm watching all the rubbish you wasting my time
I look around your house and there's nothing to steal
I kick you in the brain when you get down to kneel
and pray you pray to your god

No feelings no feelings
A no feelings for anybody else
No feelings no feelings
No feelings for anybody else except for myself
Your daddy's gone away be back another day
See his picture hanging on your wall.

HYMN 43
JETHRO TULL

Check out that flute!

Oh father high in heaven -- smile down upon your son
He's busy with his money games -- his women and his gun.
Oh Jesus save me!

And the unsung Western hero, he killed an Indian or three
And then he made his name in Hollywood
To set the white man free.
Oh Jesus save me!

If Jesus saves -- well, He'd better save Himself
from the gory glory seekers who use His name in death.
Oh Jesus save me!
If Jesus saves -- well, He'd better save Himself
from the gory glory seekers who use His name in death.
Yeah, oh Jesus save me!

Well I saw him in the city and on the mountains of the moon --
His cross was rather bloody --
He could hardly roll His stone.
Oh Jesus save me!

CHANGES
BLACK SABBATH (Iommi/Butler/Osbourne/Ward)

Hmmm... no Sabbath, no metal.
This one was a lot of fun to do. Swaping the piano for an 8 string
and Dave using an E-bow in place of the strings.
Sabbath even has cool ballads.

I feel unhappy
I feel so sad
I lost the best friend
That I ever had

She was my woman
I loved her so
But it's too late now
I've let her go

I'm going through changes
I'm going through changes

We shared the eve's
We shared each day
In love together
We found a way

But soon the world
Had its evil way
My heart was blinded
Love went astray

I'm going through changes
I'm going through changes

It took so long
To realize
That I can still hear
Her last goodbyes

Now all my days
Are filled with tears
Wish I could go back
And change these years

I'm going through changes
I'm going through changes

SPACE TRUCKIN'
DEEP PURPLE (Blackmore/Gillan/Glover/Lord/Paice)

"C'mon, C'mon, C'mon, let's go space truckin'". This song makes me feel like I'm still doing dope.
Gillan Rules!
After doing a bunch of takes of this song, Tim announced he could never be Ian Paice,
threw his sticks and left. Then listening back a few days later, he decided it wasn't Deep Purple,
but, it was definantly Overkill.

Well, we had a lot of fun on Venus
We always had a ball on Mars
While meeting all the groovey people
We've rocked the Milky Way so far
We danced around with Borealice
We're space truckin' round the stars

Come on, Come on, Come on
Let's go Space Truckin'
Come on, Come on, Come on
Space Truckin'

Remember when we did the moonshot
And Pony Trekker led the way
We'd move to the Canaveral moonstop
And everynaut would dance and sway
We got music in our solar system
We're space truckin' everyday

Come on, Come on, Come on
Let's go Space Truckin'
Come on, Come on, Come on
Space Truckin'

The fireball that we rode was moving
But now we've got a new machine
Yeah Yeah Yeah Yeah the freaks said
Man those cats can really swing
They got music in their solar system
They've rocked around the Milky Way
They dance around the Borealice
They're Space Truckin' everyday

Come on, Come on, Come on
Let's go Space Truckin'
Come on, Come on, Come on
Space Truckin'
(2x)
Yeah, Yeah, Yeah, Space Truckin'
(till end)

DEUCE
KISS (Gene Simmons)

"You wanted the best & you got it! The hottest band in the land, KISS !!!!!", nuff said.
Hello Victims,
I always wanted to be in KISS, and besides putting on the make-up when I was 15,
this is as close as I'm gonna get.

Get up
And get your grandma outta here
Pick up
Old Jim is workin' hard this year
And baby
Do the things he says to do
Do it

Baby, if you're feeling good
And baby if you're feeling nice
You know your man is workin' hard
He's worth a deuce

Honey
Don't put your man behind his years
And baby
Stop cryin' all your tears
Baby
Do the things he says to do
Do it

Baby, if you're feeling good
And baby if you're feeling nice
You know your man is workin' hard
He's worth a deuce

Baby, if you're feeling good
And baby if you're feeling nice
You know your man is workin' hard
Yeah

NEVER SAY DIE
BLACK SABBATH (Iommi/Butler/Osbourne/Ward)

Probably should be the theme song for this band!

People going nowhere, taken for a ride
Looking for the answers that they know inside
Searching for a reason, looking for a rhyme
Snow White's mirror said "partners in crime!"

Don't they ever have to worry?
Don't you ever wonder why?
It's a part of me that tells you
Oh, don't you ever, don't ever say die
Never, never, never say die again

Sunday's satisfaction, Monday's home and dry
Truth is on the doorstep, welcome in the lie
All dressed up in sorrow, got no place to go
Hold tight, do it ready, taking it slow

Don't they ever have to worry?
Don't you ever wonder why?
It's a part of me that tells you
Oh, don't you ever, don't ever say die
Never, never, never say die again

Don't you ever say die
Don't you ever say die
Never say die

Panic, silver lining, writing's on the wall
Children get together, you can save us all
Future's on the corner, throwing us a die
Slow down, turn around, everything's fine

Don't they ever have to worry?
Don't you ever wonder why?
It's a part of me that tells you
Oh, don't you ever, don't ever say die
Never, never, never say die again
Never say die again

DEATH TONE
MANOWAR (R. Friedman/ J. DeMaio)

Man, you gotta love that intro. We've most recently had the extreme pleasure
of playing with "The Kings Of Metal" and showered on not... still the loudest.
D.D. first introduced me to Manowar back in the early eighties.
I remember playing "Battle Hymns" untill it would play no more. We did
a lot of partying to these sword weiling mothers... Rock/Drink/Fuck!!!

Ridin' on to wheels
Chainsuit on my heels
Sittin' on leather
Ridin' on steel

Put my shades on
Hair blows in the wind
I give some square the finger
Now he won't look again, no he won't

PreChorus:
 Now, you were sittin'
And I got sent to Nam
I give some square the finger
 You just worked at job

Chorus:
 Hear me calling
Can't you hear my death tone
 Hear me calling
Can't you hear my death tone
 Hear me ride
 On into the night
 Pull along side
If you're looking for a fight

My social workers
Got me on a chain
Keeps me out of jail
So the paper prints his name, yes it does, and he likes it

Unemployment checks
Run out next week
It won't be very long
'Til I'm back on the streets again

PreChorus:
 Now, you were sittin' home
And I was sent to Nam
I wen't through the big house
 You just worked at job

Chorus:
 Hear me calling
Can't you hear my death tone
 Hear me calling
Can't you hear my death tone
 Hear me ride
 On into the night
 Pull along side
If you're looking for a fight

Death tone
Death tone
Gonna ride on my death tone
On into the night

CORNUCOPIA
BLACK SABBATH (Iommi/Butler/Osbourne/Ward)

This is the first cover tune we did with Joe & Sebastian. Drums were done
during The Kiling Kind session but the rest was recorded somwhere in Germany
during the tour.

Too much in the truth they say
Keep it 'till another day
Let them have their little game
Illusion helps to keep them sane

Let them have their little toys
Fast sports cars and motor noise
Exciting in their plastic place
Frozen food in a concrete maze

You're gonna go insane
I'm trying to save your brain

I don't know what's happening
My head's all torn inside
People say I'm heavy
They don't know what I hide

Take a life, it's going cheap
Kill someone, no one will weep
Freedom's yours, just pay your dues
We just want your soul to use

You're gonna go insane
I'm trying to save your brain

TYRANT
JUDAS PRIEST (Tipton/Halford)

A few years back our friend GЖtz, from RockHard asked us to get involved
in a Priest tribute. It wasn't hard for us to pick a cut because at one time
or another just about every song from "Sad Wings to British Steel" was in our cover set.
This is a tune we frequently closed our set with, when we were a cover band. If it was
good enough to close Priest's set,, it was good enough for us.

Behold 'tis I the commander
Whose grip controls you all
Resist me not, surrender
I'll no compassion call

(Tyrant) Capture of humanity
(Tyrant) Conqueror of all
(Tyrant) Hideous destructor
(Tyrant) Every man shall fall

Your very lives are held between my fingers
I snap them and you cower down in fear
You spineless things who belly down to slither
To the end of the world you follow to be near

(Tyrant) Capture of humanity
(Tyrant) Conqueror of all
(Tyrant) Hideous destructor
(Tyrant) Every man shall fall

Mourn for us oppressed in fear
Chained and shackled we are bound
Freedom choked in dread we live
Since Tyrant was enthroned

I listen not to sympathy
Whilst ruler of this land
Withdraw your feeble aches and moans
Or suffer smite from this my hand

(Tyrant) Capture of humanity
(Tyrant) Conqueror of all
(Tyrant) Hideous destructor
(Tyrant) Every man shall fall

Mourn for us oppressed in fear
Chained and shackled we are bound
Freedom choked in dread we live
Since Tyrant was enthroned

My legions faithful unto death
I'll summon to my court
And as you perish each of you
Shall scream as you are sought

(Tyrant) Capture of humanity
(Tyrant) Conqueror of all
(Tyrant) Hideous destructor
(Tyrant) Every man shall fall

AIN'T NOTHIN' TO DO
DEAD BOYS (Bator/Chrome)

Is this that song... that Pearl Jam song... PAY ATTENTION! I remember seeing this guys
at the Ritz on 11th St. in N.Y. ...NO BASS PLAYER? Nobody eared... they were the best.
I snuck out of my house when I was 16 and took the train to the city to see
the Dead Boys open for The Damned at CBGB's. They were America's answer to the
Pistols. Royalty as far as I was concerned.

I'm so sick of tv
You know, i'm getting bored of the tube
And I'm so sick of romance
I'm gettin' real sick of you

I wanna get on out of here
And find somethin' to do
Yeah get on out of here
Just ain't nothin' to do

Listen
I'm so sick of FM
I don't play my stereo too
Just wanna get out on the street fight free
That is somethin' to do

Wanna get on out of here
Ain't nothin' to do
Yeah get on out of here
Just ain't nothin' to do

There ain't nothin' to do
I gonna beat up the next juppie I see
Maybe I'll be beatin' up you
Here I come baby
in your mouth

Ain't nothin' to do
Ain't nothin' to do

There ain't nothin' to do
Gonna knock down the next suit I see
Maybe I'll be knockin' down you

Ain't nothin' to do
Ain't nothin' to do
Ain't nothin' to do
(till end)

I'M AGAINST IT
THE RAMONES

Being from N.Y. you have a special attachment to The Ramones. We think they're ours,
and they are. We didn't own the original master of this recording, so we transfered it
from a 10 years old, shifty casette copy... makes no never mind. It was recorded in '88,
with the "Under The Influence" line-up. I remember getting ready to take the stage at the Ritz
for the first time as a headlines and we got a special introduction. This guy walks on stage;
ripped jeans, shades, leather and say in a very low voice; "Uh, these guys are called Overkill".
It was Joey Ramone. The most memorable intro of D.D. & my career... Hey-Ho Let's go!!!
If you love music, you have to love The Ramones. I think at the time (1984) we were watching
Pee Wee's Big Adventure on the bus alot, and that's why we were doing Tequila
at the end of this tune.

Well I'm against it
I'm against it
Well I'm against it
I'm against it

I don't like politics
I don't like communists
I don't like games and fun
I don't like anyone

Well I'm against it
I'm against it
Well I'm against it
I'm against it

I don't like Jesus freaks
I don't like circus geeks
I don't like summer and spring
I don't like anything

I don't like sex and drugs
I don't like water bugs
I don't care about poverty
All I care about is me

Well I'm against it
I'm against it
Well I'm against it
I'm against it

I don't like playing ping pong
I don't like the Viet Cong
I don't like Burger King
I don't like anything

And I'm against it
I'm against it
Well I'm against it
I'm against it
Well I'm against it
I'm against it
